Program Description: During this training, participants will learn the developmental model of relational trauma as well as learn about trauma reactivity. The correlation between unresolved trauma and substance abuse and unhealthy attachment will be explored. Participants will learn successful trauma-informed therapy interventions that target the brain to enable clients to self-regulate and remain engaged in the therapeutic healing process.
3 CE’s will be provided to attendees, a light breakfast will be included.

Goal
Equip healthcare providers, direct care staff, and supervisors to identify and treat trauma reactivity in clients and staff. Participants will learn to differentiate between resistance and trauma reactivity.
Objectives
- Explore the link between trauma reactivity and substance use disorders, process addictions, codependency, love addiction, and love avoidance.
- Explore the developmental model, attachment theory, family roles, and how these intersect with substance abuse.
- Help clients track their emotional reactivity and how this impacts their negative behaviors and relationship choices and styles.
- Learn the difference between trauma reactivity and resistance. Learn techniques to work with each.
- Learn how to increase the client’s understanding of their behaviors and reactions.
- Gain 6 easy-to-implement techniques to soothe the highly emotional client and decrease emotional flooding without the use of medicine.
- Learn how to do a diagnostic trauma timeline. What to look for, what is hidden.
- Identify treatment interventions that are counter-productive for trauma patients.
- Provider self-care. Learn how to protect yourself from burnout and vicarious trauma.
