Melanie is a South Florida native and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Sociology and a minor in Women’s Studies in 2001 from the University of Florida. Melanie went on to work in the field of substance abuse as a case manager and then went back to school with the intention of becoming a mental health therapist in 2012. Melanie earned her Master’s Specialist degree at the University of Florida in 2015. Upon graduation, Melanie worked in a local non-profit agency and specialized in working with adolescents and their families for over three years. Melanie then went on to work on a brand new adolescent unit in a local psychiatric hospital as a primary therapist, working with both patients and their families working through crises and to reach stabilization. After a year and a half, Melanie transitioned back to the field of substance abuse and joined the Futures team in January 2021. Melanie’s passion is to meet clients where they are at and to guide them to recognize their strengths and ultimately empower them to reach their full potential.
