Casey Gildemyer, MS, MCAP
Family Support Specialist
Casey Gildemyer was born and raised in South Florida and found her passion to help others while taking psychology classes during high school and that led her want to help individuals and families during difficult times and become the best versions of themselves.
She attended Florida State University, where she graduated with her Bachelors in Science with focus on Psychology and Sociology. From there, she attended Nova Southeastern University and received a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Casey is a Certified Masters Level Addiction Professional.
Upon graduation, Casey worked in a local non-profit agency and specialized in working with adolescents and their families for over two years. During this time, she obtained training in EMDR trauma therapy, family dynamics and addictions. Casey has now been working in the addiction treatment field in South Florida since 2012. Casey has experience with individual therapy, group therapy, family programs and trauma therapy.
Casey has a theoretical approach that primarily stems from Family Systems Theory. The approach assesses and develops awareness of multigenerational influences, family relational interactions, and the process of developing emotional independence through individuation by consciously choosing how we interact with others instead of emotionally reacting without forethought.
Casey believes in assisting individuals and families to help themselves by encouraging openness in communication, restoring trust to self and others, and setting boundaries. In her spare time Casey enjoys volunteering with rescue animals, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
