Joy Schemenauer, LCSW
Family Support Specialist
Joy Schemenauer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Social Work from Florida Atlantic University. Following her academic pursuits, she dedicated five weeks to volunteering at an orphanage in South Africa and subsequently worked for four months with survivors of underage human trafficking. Joy then joined Tykes & Teens, Inc., where she served three years in the school system in Okeechobee, followed by another three years in Lake Worth. She then spent 1.5 years on the Mobile Crisis Team, where she honed her skills and expertise. Her professional competencies include trauma-related care, addressing childhood trauma, addiction, family cohesion, managing severe emotional and behavioral health issues, utilizing de-escalation techniques, conducting appropriate crisis interventions, and fostering authentic and vulnerable interactions. In her personal time, Joy enjoys fostering cats, visiting the beach, traveling, reading, and spending quality time with family and close friends.
