Presenter: Dr. Derick Anderson and Jim Soda

Dr. Derick Anderson and Jim Soda have both worked with professional athletes, and have found the skills one uses with them applicable to other clients in high-pressure environments. The structured, positive approach along with increased focus on accountability serve as a guide to improve performance and quality of life. This workshop will discuss the concepts of performance psychology and their application in various settings.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify 4 different Mental/Performance Skills
  2. List 3 impacts these skills can have clinically on a performance population
  3. Utilize 2 new skills for best results with mental health and addictions population
  4. Differentiate between performance and clinical psychology
  5. Discuss 3 ethics and boundary challenges within the world of organized sports
  6. Identify ways to utilize performance skills to encourage and support mental health and addictions
    patients.
Educational Goal: Participants will learn about performance skills and their applicability to mental health and substance abuse treatment.
