As a Clinical Outreach Professional, Elsa’s role consists of leading community relations in South Florida, focused in Broward County, Miami-Dade County and Latin America. Her role also includes a clinical component providing individual and group therapy to patients when appropriate. Originally from El Salvador, Elsa has resided and worked throughout Latin America, Brazil and the Caribbean, for 20+ years, is fully bilingual, and multi-cultural. Joining Futures allows her to fulfill on a childhood calling to assist those with mental and behavioral health related disorders.
Elsa holds a Masters Degree of Social Work from New York University, NY where she specialized on substance use and co-occurring disorders. Elsa is also admitted to practice law in the State of Florida and has a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown Law University. Prior to joining the clinical team at Futures, Elsa completed her clinical internship at Hazelden Betty Ford and the Ali Forney Center (LGBTQ community), in New York City where she provided individual therapy to patients suffering from substance use and co-occurring disorders, led family counseling, developed care planning, facilitated interpersonal process groups and psychoeducational groups. Specializing in LGBTQ issues, trauma, attachment issues and the development of skills, Elsa combines her own personal experiences with her education and training to provide a unique blend of clinical care for individuals and families, drawing upon a variety of styles and techniques to develop a course of action most appropriate for each client.
Prior to entering the mental and behavioral health fields, Elsa was a corporate media executive for 15+ years as Vice President of Programming Acquisitions at DIRECTV for their Latin America and Brazil division. In her role as Vice President, Elsa negotiated complex multi-country content rights acquisition (e.g., HBO, Fox, ESPN, Turner and Disney) and led multi-cultural teams, in the design, development and execution of multi-tiered packaging strategies (on-screen and online), ensuring DIRECTV’s content leadership position. Prior to DIRECTV, Elsa was a corporate attorney at White & Case LLP and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. She draws from her experience in corporate America to the development of relationships, teams and execution of marketing strategies.
